Autumn is here
The equinox is nearly here so it’s officially Autumn for us (and everyone else). As a result our main outdoor veg growing is starting to wind up, although the polytunnels will continue producing for a little longer. There are still some tomatoes ripening on the plants, and the courgettes are still going. We’ve also sown salads under cover which will keep coming through September and October. And of course, it wouldn’t be Autumn without some squashes…
A huge thank you to all our regular volunteers! It’s been wonderful to get to know so many of you, and you’ve been essential to helping us achieve so much this year. There’s lots left to do for us to reach our goals of financial sustainability, training a new generation of growers and helping set up more CSAs, but it’s great to take a moment and appreciate what we have done. We’ve now got a good proportion of our site in active cultivation, we’ve got two big polytunnels, a car-park and half of a packing shed built.
Veg box deliveries this year will continue for a while longer but will be done before the end of November. Next year we’ll be gearing up for expanding our veg box program with deliveries starting again in late spring. We’re probably going to implement a new system for veg box deliveries so we will be emailing to let you know how that works when we’ve got it set up.
We recently conducted a tree fruit pruning workshop which was a great success! Thank you to Elisa for providing this video which gives a wonderful taste of what that involved:
We’ve got lots of things in the pipeline for next year including more courses and learning opportunities. If there’s anything you’re particularly interested in, do email us to let us know at community@tyninghame.farm .
