Harvest festivities
The trees are covered in ripe apples, the wasps are everywhere, and there’s a har every morning. It can only be harvest season! And, as is traditional, we’ve got some harvest events to share: community apple pressing on Sunday 22nd September, and a harvest lunch (and fundraiser) on the 13th October. If you’d like to support our work next year, it would be fantastic if you could come to the fundraiser and donate a small amount to help us buy important equipment.
If you’re in the area on sunday 22nd, do drop by for apple pressing at Tyninghame Organic orchard between 11am and 2pm at St Baldreds. You can bring bottles and containers to fill with juice, and if you have surplus apples of your own that you’d like pressed, bring those along too! Parking should be available in the TCF car park.
Then on 13th October there’s the Tyninghame Harvest Lunch at Tyninghame Village Hall. This is a fundraiser where we’re hoping to raise enough money to buy a flail mower, which will help immeasurably in managing our cover crops and also in helping clear ground for more beds. As it’s a fund raiser we’ll be taking donations on the door (£15 suggested for a three course meal of delicious TCF produce, but more is of course much appreciated). Booking is essential via eventbrite so if you’re interested, please click on this link to reserve your place(s).
Our regular volunteer session will now be postponed until the 20th October to avoid a clash with the Harvest Lunch.
